I'll huff and I'll puff...

Today in FS2 we have been making new houses for the Three Little Pigs. In Foxes class we made clay, stick and straw houses and used these with our puppets to retell the story.

Outside, we were able to use our Forest School skills to join large sticks together.

In Otters class we were able to test the houses we made in the junk modelling area. The children used play dough as cement to stick the bricks together. We had a range of blowing devices to choose from. Did the wolf manage to blow them down?

It's all happening in FS2!

Well, what an exciting day in FS2!
Miss Sullivan and Mrs Lewis had to go to a very boring meeting with Mrs Scarisbrick this morning and it turns out they missed an unexpected visitor popping into Foxes and Otters.

While they were in the school office two characters from fairy-tale land had popped out of their books and made the journey to Lister school. They had come to spread the word of the BIG BAD WOLF. The Mummy pigs were very concerned that other pigs and animals in fairy-tale land might get a visit from him and wanted us to be able to tell the story to warn them if we got anymore visitors.

The Mummy pigs were very funny and told the story using actions and rhyme which helped us to remember it.

We were very excited to tell Miss Sullivan and Mrs Lewis all about the visitors when they got back from their meeting. We taught them how to tell the story like the Mummy pigs had shown us. Our teachers were not as fast at learning it as we were and we had to show them lots of times.

After school Miss Sullivan and Mrs Lewis received an email ..it was from the Mummy pigs. They have videoed themselves telling the story so that we can teach it to our families and spread the word of the BIG BAD WOLF.

Happy birthday to Basil and Otto

Welcome to our first blog post of the year. Now that we have met all of you in our parent meetings we can begin to blog about our fun learning in FS2.

Last Thursday we had a very exciting day, not only was it our first full day at school it was also Basil and Otto's birthday. Basil and Otto are our class cuddly toys. They celebrated their fifth birthdays with us with birthday cake, balloons and lots of fun party games.

Throughout our mornings leading up to the birthday party we thought carefully about what we thought we would need for a party. We thought about our own parties and what we remember seeing and tasting. We read the story Kipper's birthday for some new ideas. We wrote invitations to our friends from our guest list and decorated birthday cards to give to our cuddly friends. Lots of delicious smelling (not tasting) cakes were made at Mrs Lewis' malleable table with our sensory play dough.

We had to lay the tables and make sure we had enough cutlery and plates for all of our guests. We counted out the correct number of candles in German and sang Happy Birthday in English and in German.
