Ice cream, sponging and football!

We have had a very busy few weeks in FS2
Otter’s class were treated to an ice cream complete with sprinkles, and sauce galore as a reward for collecting the most pennies for the SSAFA penny mile. This is the second year running that we have run so thank you to all of the parents from both classes who helped to raise money for SSAFA.

The year six children have been doing lots of fundraising to raise some money for their dining out. Last week the children were invited to ‘sponge the teacher’. We have heard that the promise to sponge Mrs Gent was what got some of our lovely Otters and Foxes out of bed on that particular morning. Mrs Gent was a great sport and wore her snorkel as extra protection!

This morning we were treated to a yummy cake sale, another fundraising event from the year sixes that is always very popular with the children.  We all enjoyed our cakes during out independent reading time.

This morning my phonic group were football mad, so I closed my classroom during child initiated play and set up a football match outside. Annabel was the referee and kept a very close eye on the score, we talked about tally marks and she was desperately willing one of the teams to get up to five goals so she try out her new skill!

There was a lot of mathematical language to be heard during the football game and some extremely interesting celebration dances to be seen.
